The Beginning
The brand that
started in thirty
seconds.
Andy Callahan, founder of Obsidian Padel, sat down at Cross Court Padel in Poole, on a Tuesday, with a coffee. Mike Wyatt joined him. Mike is six foot seven and a padel coach — the kind of player who has been in the sport long enough to know exactly which kit fits and which does not. Within half a minute of conversation, Mike said he could not find padel apparel made for someone his size.
Andy nodded. He had the same problem from the other direction. Bigger build. Different body. Same gap.
Two completely different bodies. One sport. Zero kit either of them could buy off a shelf.
That was the moment Obsidian Padel started. Not in a boardroom. Not over a business plan. In a club café, between two players who realised that the sport they loved had quietly decided who it was for — and they were not on the list.
The sport is for everyone.

Both messages are wrong. Both came from clothing decisions made years ago by people who never asked who was being left out.

The Name
Obsidian.
Volcanic glass, forged in the land where the sport of padel was born. Mexico, 1969. Raw material shaped by extreme heat and pressure into something sharp, useful, and beautiful. Sacred to the Aztecs. As black as the packaging we ship our products in.
The name is intentional. The product is intentional. Every detail of this brand has been thought about intentionally.

Obsidian has been built on the south coast of England, in Poole. We are not based in London. We are not borrowed from a bigger brand. We are not a side project. We are a small, deliberate, founder-led business — choosing to grow from the place where the founding moment happened.
The rackets come next, handmade in Spain, designed without compromise. The apparel range expands across categories through 2026 and beyond. Community comes before commerce, every time.
